My name is Sara Carmona. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Perinatal Mental Heath Therapist (PMH-C), practicing professional social work in Portland, OR since 2011.
My therapeutic style is compassionate, collaborative, and relational. I create a safe and nurturing environment so you can explore difficult issues, strengthen your inner resources and learn new skills to use moving forward. We will use solution-focused, interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, EMDR and other evidence-based approaches to help you understand your emotions, make decisions that fit your values and live a more satisfying life.
As a Certified Perinatal Mental Health provider, I support individuals along the reproductive health continuum. "Perinatal Mental Health" is a term for mental health concerns related to the transition to parenthood. Topics may include pregnancy and birth concerns, prenatal and postpartum depression and anxiety, infertility, abortion, miscarriage, stillbirth and infant loss, and processing your birth experience. I am happy to coordinate care with your team of providers, family, or other individuals you would like to include in your counseling services.
I am a LGBQ-TI+ affirming provider and honor diversity within my practice.
